Director of Intergovernmental Affairs
Michael Rendina is the Director of Intergovernmental Affairs at Chicago Public Schools. He comes to CPS with an extensive national background in political management. His work has taken him from Capitol Hill to managing some of the most heated political campaigns across the country, including the successful nationally targeted 2008 general election campaign for Illinois Congressman Bill Foster (D-IL 14). Michael also served as Campaign Manager to Alexi Giannoulias’ 2010 U.S. Senate Race. Most recently, he served as General Consultant to John Arena’s successful come from behind 2011 Aldermanic Campaign and political consultant to the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights.
Michael was raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He earned his bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Politics from George Washington University in Washington D.C., where he also received his M.A. in Political Management. He now resides in Lakeview, with his wife, a teacher, and son.
